Silver City Walks is a labor of love for its founder/director, Richard Mahler, a writer who lives in Silver City with his wife, Stacey Austin, and a geriatric cat named Chumley. Richard has written thousands of articles for hundreds of publications, plus 11 books on a wide variety of topics. But his favorite subject is New Mexico. He currently writes the Southwest Storylines column for the Silver City-based Desert Exposure monthly, sharing profiles of interesting people of New Mexico's southwest quadrant. (Click here to read a sample column.)
Richard's books include the award-winning New Mexico's Best, Santa Fe Memories, and (with Nicky Leach) Insiders' Guide: Santa Fe. (Read excerpts or order these and other books or articles at www.RichardMahler.com; learn about his latest book at www.TheJaguarsShadow.com)
After living in New Mexico for 16 years, Richard moved to Silver City in 2007 and became enamored of its colorful history, diverse architecture, and lively art scene. He launched Silver City Walks as a way of sharing little-known delights of his adopted hometown with visitors and locals alike.
